Meet the Instructor

David has shared his deep knowledge of Chinese martial arts and medicine since 1990, blending tradition with care to support your well-being.

David started training in 1979 at the ripe old age of 12 years old, first starting with the Li Family Feng Shou Kung Fu and attained his first Instructor grade in 1990 and started teaching. After being prompted by the late GrandMaster of the system, Chee Soo, David expanded his training in Tai Chi Chuan as part of the Li tradition, and achieved his first instructor grade in this art in 1996. Since then, David has gone on to obtain 4 Teacher grades of the Kung Fu, and 3 of the Tai chi and is a Founder Member and Senior Instructor within the Taoist Arts Organisation.

To help with overall energetic assessment, David has also been studying with a teacher in the field of Energetic Healing since 1997. This form of healing comes from the Dineh people of North America, and coupled with the experience of training in Taoist Martial Arts since 1979, enables David to assess the overall physical and energetic state of a person.

The practice of T’ai Chi and Qi Gong is thousands of years old and informed much of the knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine as it stands today. There are many different styles practiced throughout the world, namely Li, Yang, Chen, Wu, Hao and Sun. Each of these, if taught correctly, will adhere to the basic principles of T’ai Chi and students will learn what separates this Ancient form of movement from other forms of exercise.
